A message from our staff to our pupils, written by Jess Dixon (Year 2 teacher)

I am still your teacher

Dear Parents/Carers,

In response to the escalating Covid-19 pandemic, Chipstead Valley Primary School are working closely with the
Executive Leadership Team at PACE Trust to ensure that our pupils, staff and parents are kept safe.

We are closely following the advice of Public Health England and the DFE in relation to how we how we respond to
Covid-19. We do not have any reported cases of COVID-19 at CVPS. We appreciate that pupils and families are
currently anxious, however, it is important we continue following government advice regarding washing hands
and taking precautions.

We have already put a number of measures in place:

Hand washing
All pupils have been thoroughly washing their hands throughout the school day, with additional antibacterial hand wash in place. Please could parents/carers now ensure that your children wash their hands before leaving home in the morning.

Parents/Visitors to the school
As a precautionary measure, we are asking all visitors who are arrive on the premises, to sanitise their hands in the main reception area before they enter the main building.

Assemblies
We have taken the decision today to suspend whole school and key stage assemblies.

Trips/Activities
The leadership team will decide on a trip by trip basis if it is to proceed, during the week of the scheduled event, based on the Government advice being given at the time. All parents will be kept updated immediately with any changes.

Cleaning
As a precaution we are intensifying our cleaning regime to ensure door handles, computers keyboards and
handrails are disinfected more frequently as this is a good way of keeping our school community safe. We have also worked with children in class to discuss the importance of personal hygiene and washing hands properly.

We are in constant discussions with the Executive Leadership at PACE to make sure that our staff are prepared in advance of a possible closure. We will have resources for all year groups which are currently being prepared and this will allow parents to have continuity of learning at home. We will send more information out as and when it is necessary.

We will maintain communication with our school community via text, email and our school website. Please ensure that the office have your current details. If there are any changes to these please email the office – office@chipstead.croydon.sch.uk

Please be assured that the safety of your children will be paramount at all times.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Martin Roughley

Dear Parents/Carers,

Over the past 6 months, the staff car park has become increasingly busy in the mornings. This is predominantly before 8.30am when staff are arriving to work and parents are using the car park to temporarily stop and drop off their children. Unfortunately, this has become a safety issue, with a number of reports of near accidents on entering or exiting the car park. In order to ensure the safety of both children and adults in and around the site, we have had to make the decision to close the car park gates in the mornings. This will take effect as of Monday 9th September.

Although we understand that the car park being accessible is convenient, we have to put safety first and foremost at all times. As you are aware, we are fortunate to have access to the lower section of the pub car park, which parents are permitted to use. In addition, early in the morning, there is much space on surrounding streets to enable quick drop offs.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we are sure you will appreciate the reasoning behind the decision.

Kind regards

Martin Roughley

Dear Parents/Carers

We regularly send out useful information to all parents on checking for and treatment of headlice. Please check on the link provided for the latest information from the NHS: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Head-lice/Pages/Introduction.aspx . In order to eradicate outbreaks of headlice we would be grateful if you could check your child's hair on a regular basis as there have been some cases reported in school recently.

Many thanks for your cooperation.

Dear Parents/ Carers,

We would appreciate you checking your SCOPay account and making payment for any amounts owed to the school.  I would like to remind you that payments for school meals should be made in advance.

All amounts owed should be cleared by the end of term.

Defibrillator

We are writing to make everyone aware that thanks to your generosity at school events and the hard work of the PTFA and their fundraising efforts, the school have been able to purchase and install a new defibrillator. A Defibrillator is an Automatic External Defibrillator designed to shock the heart back to life if a casualty is in cardiac arrest.

The defibrillator has been positioned on the external wall of the Lavender building, on the side facing Chipstead Valley Road.

A number of staff onsite have been trained in its use. This is the second defibrillator the school have purchased; the other one is located in the school office.
